About Neal

Neal S. Cohen practices law in the area of consumer product safety before the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

A former senior CPSC official, Neal brings a wealth of experience in representing companies before the CPSC. Not only does Neal have extensive knowledge of CPSC's safety requirements, he also understands how the CPSC and its staff really think when investigating a consumer product. Background
From 2010 – 2016, Neal was the Small Business Ombudsman at the CPSC. In this role, Neal has counseled thousands of small businesses on the inner details of the CPSIA and other CPSC safety laws. In charge of business education and outreach while at the CPSC , Neal gets the big picture but also sweats the details. Earlier in his CPSC career, Neal served as the Chief Counsel to the Director of the Office of Compliance. And Neal was selected as the lead staff attorney in charge of CPSC’s largest investigation to date concerning so-called Chinese Drywall. Neal's work eventually led to his testimony before the Senate Sub-Committee on Consumer Protection concerning that investigation.
Legal Experience
Before joining the CPSC, Neal was a courtroom attorney trying high-stakes felony cases before juries in New York City. Neal also worked as a corporate attorney, working on mergers & acquisitions and private equity offering documents as an attorney at the firm of King & Spalding in New York City.

Neal continues to be involved in leadership in the product safety world through his active involvement in the International Consumer Product Safety and Health Organization (ICPSHO), where is a frequent speaker. Neal is also a member in good standing and active in the leadership of various product safety committees through ASTM International.

Boaz is a seasoned consumer product lawyer. He has extensive experience advising and representing a wide range of companies on product safety compliance, policy, and enforcement. He also advises companies on other consumer product regulatory requirements, such as labeling, advertising, and marketing requirements under federal and state laws.

Boaz has worked with a diverse range of companies, ranging from leading retailers, private labelers, and manufacturers, to innovative startups, platform sellers, and franchisers.

Background
Boaz, who is Counsel to Neal Cohen Law, has a long background in regulatory matters. Most recently working at Keller and Heckman, the well-known regulatory firm, Boaz served as Counsel focusing on complex consumer product regulatory and enforcement matters. From 2014 to 2018, Boaz served as Senior Counsel and then Chief Counsel to CPSC Commissioner Marietta Robinson. During his years at the CPSC, Boaz forged strong ties with CPSC leadership, management, and staff, and worked closely with a variety of stakeholders in Congress, business, and the non-profit sector. Boaz came to CPSC with a strong background in financial services litigation. Boaz was a securities enforcement and class action litigator at the major international law firm of Dewey & LeBoeuf, and a Trial Attorney at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. A native of Israel, Boaz served as a commander and officer in the Israel Defense Force’s Armored Corps before coming to the U.S.
